Controlling the view

Alt / Shift / Ctrl + arrow key
Scroll by 1 point / 1 grid line / ½ grid line in the direction of arrow key

+, -, mouse wheel
Zoom in or out

Space
Focus on area under pointer: move it to the center and zoom to at least 200%

H
Toggle whether handles are shown

Selecting objects

left click on object
Select only the object under the cursor; with Shift to add the object to the selection; with Ctrl to toggle whether the object is selected

left click on page
Clear the current selection

Shift + R
Reselect the most recently cleared selection

left drag
Drag a frame around the objects to select;
press Esc to cancel

Shift + left drag; middle drag
Drag a frame around objects to add to the selection

Ctrl + A
Select all objects on current page

I
Invert the selection

C / O
Lock / unlock the selected objects so they cannot be selected or moved by accidental left clicks Tip: To select a locked object, click the paper to clear the selection, then right click the object

G
Combine the selected objects into a group

U
Break up (“ungroup”) the selected groups into separate objects again

Ctrl + digit key
Save the current selection for future use (where digit key is a key from 0 to 9)

Recall a previously saved selection

Moving selected objects

left drag on selection
Move selected objects to a new position;
press Esc to cancel

arrow key
Move by 1 point in the direction of arrow key;
with Shift move by 1 grid line;
with Ctrl move by ½ grid line

To align groups of objects on an edge or distribute them so they are even spaced out, use the Deck menu.

Editing objects

double click on object
Start editing the object (if it supports editing)

left drag on handle
Resize a box from its corners; move a control point of a line or curve; rotate about a rotation handle;
with Shift to constrain the aspect ratio, or constrain angles to multiples of 45°

Ctrl + X / Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V
Cut / copy / paste the current selection

R / L
Rotate selected objects right (clockwise) / left (counter-clockwise)

M
Mirror (horizontally flip) the selected objects;
vertical flip is available from the Deck menu

F / B
Move the selected objects to the front / back of other objects on the page

Styling objects

/
Style the selection

Ctrl + Shift + C / Ctrl + Shift + V
Copy / paste style settings
